civil False Claims Act. Prior to joining Patton Boggs, she spent five years as a
litigator in the Department of Justice (Fraud Section).
- She was one of the government’s foremost experts on the Anti-Kickback Statute and the Stark Laws and regulations and investigated and litigated numerous significant federal False Claims Act matters premised on alleged violations of these laws and regulations.
- She regularly contributed her expertise to U.S. Attorneys’ Offices nationwide, and to the HHS Office of Inspector General and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services in relation to investigations, Advisory Opinions, and proposed regulations.
- At the Department of Justice, Ms. Laemmle-Weidenfeld also focused heavily on fraud investigations and litigation against major pharmaceutical and medical device companies, particularly on matters involving allegations of payments of kickbacks to physicians and other referral and prescribing sources.
