Michael J. Wagner is a partner with Baker & McKenzie LLP, and focuses his practice in the area of civil litigation where he represents multinational companies engaged in litigation. Some of his accomplishments include:
- Mr. Wagner regularly has primary counsel responsibility for the defense of class actions and multi-district litigation involving commercial and product liability claims. He frequently defends global manufacturers as they confront mass tort and other litigation. Mr. Wagner serves as coordinator of Baker & McKenzie's Product Liability and Product Recall Practice Group and as a member of the Steering Committee of the firm's North American Pharmaceutical and Healthcare Industry Group.
- Mr. Wagner regularly advises corporations facing major crises, coordinates internal investigations, and helps them manage those challenges by developing appropriate litigation strategies and working closely with senior executives as they make critical decisions. A former journalist, he frequently helps clients coordinate media responses to avoid adverse litigation consequences.
- Mr. Wagner previously served as Chair of the ABA's Tort and Insurance Practice Section's Civil Procedure and Evidence Committee. Mr. Wagner's articles and columns have been published in the National Law Journal, the Food and Drug Law Journal, the ABA's Tort & Insurance Law Journal, Corporate Legal Times, the Journal of Health and Hospital Law, and The Practical Litigator. His ABA article concerning the federal automatic disclosure provisions of Rule 26(a)(1) has been translated into French and appeared in the Gazette du Palais, a leading French legal publication.
