SPEAKER
William McNichol, is a partner in the Philadelphia office of Reed Smith LLP. Bill concentrates his practice in the representation of technology-based enterprises in a broad range of intellectual property matters, including the prosecution of patent applications, re-examination and reissues; trademark registration applications, oppositions and cancellation proceedings; and the preparation of patent validity and infringement opinions and negotiating
technology transfer agreements.
- Bill has an extensive background in drug, biotech and other medical technology intellectual property litigation, including patent, copyright, trade dress and trademark infringement matters in both the courts and U.S. International Trade Commission.
- Lead counsel in Perricone v. Medicis Pharmaceutical, a patent infringement case in which the Federal Court ruled in favor of our Mr. McNichol's client and established the legal standard for inherent anticipation in pharmaceutical patents.
- Lead counsel in the case of Softworks v. O'Neil Product Development, in which the client's claim to copyright ownership was vindicated, resulting in an award of damages and attorneys' fees.
- Lead counsel in Perricone v. Medicis Pharmaceutical, a patent infringement case in which the Federal Court ruled in favor of Mr. McNichol's client and established the legal standard for inherent anticipation in pharmaceutical patents.
