SPEAKER
Julie A. Fleming, J.D., A.C.C., is the founder of Atlanta-based Life at the Bar LLC, through which she provides attorney development coaching and consulting for an international clientele. She is the author of The Reluctant Rainmaker: A Guide for Lawyers Who Hate Selling (Crow Creek Press, 2009) and numerous articles focusing on topics such as rainmaking, career strategy, work/life integration, and leadership development.
- Prior to founding Life at the Bar LLC in 2006, Julie was an associate (specializing in patent litigation) with firms ranging in size from 2 to more than 2100 lawyers. Julie is a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation and a member of the American Bar Association and currently serves as co-Editor-in-Chief of The SciTech Lawyer, the quarterly publication of the Section of Science and Technology Law. Past Section leadership positions include Council Member (1999-2004); Chair, Life Sciences and Physical Sciences Division (2001-2004); and Chair, Biotechnology Committee (1997-2002).
- Julie earned her J.D. in 1993 from the Emory University School of Law, her B.S., magna cum laude, in biology in 1998 from Georgia State University, and her B.A. in 1990 from Vanderbilt University. Julie received a certification in leadership coaching from Georgetown University in 2007 and earned her Associate Certified Coach credential from the International Coach Federation in 2008. She is registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office and is admitted to the bars of Georgia, the District of Columbia and Florida.
